Witnesses and police officials told Dawn that some students were trying to stop passenger vans and buses by force on Thursday on the Ring Road for going to their college. The students, however, succeeded in stopping one passenger van but the driver sped away after picking up only one student Roohullah, and left the remaining students at the bus stop.
The students, who were left out, stopped another passenger van, boarded the vehicle and forced its driver to chase the van which had not picked them up. Butthe van driver lost control and the van overturned, killing Fawad Ahmad, a student of intermediate final in the college, and injuring 25 others.
The student, who was picked up by the other van, was badly beaten by the cleaner and driver of the other van and was dropped at the Kambo bus stand. The police have registered a case and started search for the van cleaner and driver.
