Musharraf reiterates support for Sri Lanka


ISLAMABAD, Dec 22: President General Pervez Musharraf on Wednesday reaffirmed Pakistan's commitment to the territorial integrity of Sri Lanka and expressed support to the efforts by the government to bring about peace in the country.

He was talking to H.M.G.S. Palihakkara, special envoy of the president of Sri Lanka. The envoy delivered a letter from President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga to President Musharraf.

Mr Palihakkara, who is also Sri Lanka's foreign secretary, is in Pakistan on a two-days visit. He discussed matters of mutual interest with the president. Gen Musharraf expressed satisfaction over the excellent ties between the two countries. He conveyed his greetings to the Sri Lankan president, who will visit Pakistan shortly. -APP
