Arrest of Asif condemned

By Our Correspondent

MIRPURKHAS, Dec 21: PPP leader Nawab Mohammad Yousuf Talpur MNA has condemned the detention of party leader Asif Ali Zardari at Islamabad Airport.

In a press statement issued here , the PPP leader said that the government was exercising a naked discrimination against the liberal forces of Pakistan while the extremist elements had been allowed to hold public demonstrations to frighten the western world and liberal majority in Pakistan.

He said while the extremist forces had been allowed a day earlier to hold a demonstration in Islamabad, the government used all its power to block the rousing welcome in the twin cities for Asif Ali Zardari who was released only a month back after holding him hostage for eight long years.

The CEC member of the PPP said that by detaining Mr Zardari, the regime cannot crush the awakening in the Pakistani judiciary and added that all the pressure tactics and threats to the PPP chairperson Benazir Bhutto had nose-dived.

Mr Talpur demanded immediate release of thousands of workers held at Islamabad airport and other parts of Rawalpindi otherwise a nationwide protest will be launched.
