NAWABSHAH, Dec 21: As soon as the news of arrest of People's Party Parliamentarians leader Asif Ali Zardari's reached here on Tuesday, the PPP workers and leaders rushed to the airport after they were told by the party leaders in Karachi that Mr Zardari might be sent to Nawabshah.

However, when the PPP activists came to know that Mr Zardari had been sent to Karachi from Islamabad, they returned to the city and blocked the road outside the press club by staging a sit-in and burning tyres.

Led by MPA Ghulam Qadir Chandio, they were raising slogans against the government and demanding immediate release of Mr Zardari. Later, the protesters moved to Nawabshah-Sakrand road and blocked it as a result vehicles coming towards Nawabshah from the National Highway remained stranded for about one hour.

LARKANA: Reacting to the arrest of Mr Zardari, the PPP workers, led by MNA Ramesh Lal and party's district president Ayaz Soomro, took out a procession here on Tuesday night.

The procession emerged out from the main office of the PPP in Kennedy Market and, after marching on the main roads of the city, ended outside Jinnahbagh. The protestors, carrying banners and placards, raised slogans against the government and demanded release of Mr Zardari.

DADU: Activists of the People's Party took out a procession here on Tuesday in protest against the arrest Asif Ali Zardari. They marched on the main roads and staged a demonstration outside the press club.

Speaking on the occasion, Shabbir Abro and others alleged that Mr Zardari was arrested under directives of the Punjab chief minister. They described the move a political victimization and said the government was forcing judges to cancel the bail.
