KARACHI: Four judges transferred

KARACHI, Dec 21: Sindh High Court Chief Justice Saiyed Saeed Ashhad has issued orders for transfer of four judges in the province. SHC Registrar Husain Bakhsh Khoso has been transferred to Khairpur Mirs' as district and sessions judge in place of Nisar Mohammad Shaikh, who has been transferred as district and sessions judge, Karachi Central.

District and session judge, Karachi Central, Syed Pir Ali Shah, has been transferred and asked to report to the SHC. District and Sessions Judge Shaukat Ali Memon, who was working as secretary to the chief justice, has been transferred and posted as SHC registrar.

Commenting on the transfer of the district and sessions judge of Karachi Central, SHC Registrar Shaukat Ali Memon said it was a routine matter as the proposal for the transfers had been under consideration.

The approval was accorded by the SHC chief justice and judges on Monday and the notification was issued on Tuesday, he said. Shaukat Memon, who assumed charge on Tuesday, said the transfers had nothing to do with the cancellation of the bail of People's Party Parliamentarians leader Asif Ali Zardari in the Justice Nizam murder case.

He said the trial court had the discretion to cancel the bail of an accused on his non-appearance before the court. The trial court could also forfeit the surety and issue non-bailable warrants of the accused on non-appearance, he said. He said the trial court could restore the bail on appearance of the accused. -APP
