JACOBABAD, Dec 21: Larkana, Shikarpur and Jacobabad police jointly carried out an operation against bandits in Garhi Khero in the jurisdiction of Mohammadpur police station here on Tuesday , during which police arrested 12 persons from the Mehrabpur Brohi village allegedly involved in the kidnapping of judges of Shikarpur.

The police also took livestock in its possession. When this scribe along with other journalists went to the spot, the DPO and the TPO refused to provide further details and insulted journalists on whom journalists protested against the behaviour of the DPO and the TPO.

OUR NAWABSHAH CORRESPONDENT ADDS: Entire Nawabshah city remained closed on Tuesday on the strike call of traders and political and social welfare organizations in protest against police failure to recover two judges kidnapped from the Shikarpur area.

The commercial area including Liaquat Market, Kutchery Road, Manuabad, Masjid road, Chakra Bazaar, Mohini Bazaar, Hospital Road and Sakrand Road remained completely closed. Protesters also burnt tyres at different places.

Led by People's Party Parliamentarians MPA Ghulam Qadir Chandio and Tariq Masood Arain, president of the Jewellers Association Aslam Shaikh and leaders of social welfare organizations, a procession was taken out by activists of different trade, social welfare and political organizations.

The procession started from outside the Kabeer Masjid and, after passing through main roads, culminated at the press club. Hundreds of protesters, including relatives of a kidnapped judge, Farooq Channa, were carrying banners and placards and raising slogans for immediate release of kidnapped judges.

The protesters said that the Sindh government had failed to maintain law and order situation which was evident from kidnapping of judges. The protesters warned of continuing protest if the judges were not immediately recovered.
