HYDERABAD: 34 plazas declared defaulters

By Bureau Report

HYDERABAD, Dec 21: Wasa has declared 34 plazas and multi-storey buildings of the City, Latifabad and Qasimabad talukas as chronic defaulters in the payment of water and sewerage bills.

A total amount of over Rs25 million is outstanding against these buildings. The Wasa launched a recovery campaign against the defaulters under the orders of the Sindh chief minister.

The agency warned that if these plazas failed to pay 70 per cent of the total amount of outstanding dues in the first phase, water supply to them would be disconnected.

The defaulters have also been issued notices to pay the bills in time. It warned that water supply to under construction projects which had failed to regularize water connections would be disconnected.

The agency cautioned the consumers that water supply would be reduced by 50 to 60 per cent due to closure of canals from Dec 20 to Jan 5. The consumers have been advised to use water sparingly for 15 days.
