LAHORE, Dec 21: An Anti-Corruption Court on Tuesday extended the interim bail of Ravi Town Nazim Amer Munir till Dec 23 (Thursday). An ACE official told Dawn that the Nazim's bail was extended as the establishment could not produce complete record against him before the court.

The Nazim had secured the bail from the Rawalpindi bench of the Lahore High Court on Dec 11 after the ACE had nominated him in a corruption case. Amer Munir and six other town officials, three of them still absconding, are accused of embezzling millions of rupees of development funds making unlawful payment of streetlight items, awarding of bogus contracts and collection of receipts against fictitious challan books.

Meanwhile, Muhammad Aslam lodged a complaint with the ACE, alleging that the assistant director (legal) used to torture grade (IV) employees of the Ravi Town to extract desired statements. ACE director Brig Aslam Ghuman (retired), however, denied the allegations.
