Clarification

ISLAMABAD, Dec 17: Apropos of the news item "NAB not interested in old cases: lawyer" published on Dec 15, NAB has in a statement clarified that all appeals filed prior to the setting up of the National Accountability Bureau are being handled by the office of the attorney-general and NAB has nothing to do with them.

This is also what NAB standing counsel Ibrahim Satti had stated before the court in the case referred to in the report. All cases which were decided by trial courts after the creation of NAB and are now at the appellate level are being handled by the prosecutor-general's office.

All cases pertaining to the post-1985 acts of corruption are being pursued by NAB in accordance with the law both in courts and in investigations, according to NAB Prosecutor-General Irfan Qadir.
