By Our Staff Reporter

LAHORE, Dec 17: All swings and rides in the city parks will be registered under the quality management system, and the law department will frame laws regarding their installation all over the province.

Every child riding any ride or swing will be considered insured. And Rs500,000 will be paid as compensation in case of the death of any child in any incident during the ride. Those handicapped or seriously injured will receive Rs300,000 and Rs100,000 each.

The City District Government will submit a summary to the chief minister for approval regarding the registration of rides and swings in Lahore whereas the law to be framed by the law department will be applicable to the entire province.

This was decided at a meeting presided over by Nazim Mian Amer Mahmood here on Friday. Tourism Minister Mian Aslam Iqbal, officials and owners of swings and rides in different parks were also present.

The meeting was informed that the ban on 24 less dangerous rides had been lifted. The dangerous and big rides or swings would be permitted operation only when their owners get fitness certificates from the UET, Nespak or any authorized private consultant firm.

The Nazim authorized the committee, headed by the EDO (works and services), to pre-qualify private firms interested in offering consultancy services. They would issue the fitness certificates according to the international safety management system.
