BAGHDAD, Dec 16: The director of Iraq's state-run telecommunications company and his bodyguard were killed by armed men in Baghdad on Thursday, the communications ministry said.
Qassem Mihawi was attacked as he was leaving his home in the Jamiha district of western Baghdad, said ministry official Abbas Mohammed. A medical source at Baghdad's Yarmuk hospital said that it had received the bodies of both Mihawi and his bodyguard, Areth Abdel Haq.
Senior officials working for the interim Iraqi government have been the target of numerous attacks by guerillas. -AFP
