KARACHI: Science fair begins at St Joseph's


KARACHI, Dec 16: The annual science exhibition of St Joseph's Government College for Women began on its premises on Thursday.

A total of 81 projects were displayed by students of XI Science in the categories of biology, chemistry, physics and computer science. While a psychology project was displayed by the students of Class XII Arts.

The Acting Director, HEJ Research Institute of Chemistry, University of Karachi, Prof Dr Mohammed Iqbal Choudhary, inaugurated the exhibition. He inspected every project and listened with great interest to the presentations made by students. This was followed by a prize distribution ceremony.

The Principal of St Joseph's, Prof Dr Tanveer Anjum, in her welcome address praised the tremendous efforts of the teachers and students. She said the talent and creativity displayed by the girls at the exhibition was amazing.

Dr Choudhary said he was amazed by the wonderful show the students and teachers of the St Joseph's College had presented. He said the difference between the developed and underdeveloped countries was that of knowledge.

"With the kind of knowledge-based creativity that has been presented today, I feel we will soon bridge the gap of progress between the rich and the poor countries," he said.

All science teachers were part of the exhibition's organising committee. The Chairman, Board of Intermediate Education Karachi, Prof Iftikhar Zaidi, Professor Arif Rizvi of the HEJ Institute, Educational Adviser to the Nazim, Nasim Siddiqui, Principal of D.J. Science College Dr Ravi Shankar, and other academicians also visited the exhibition.

The judges were Dr Ayub Yousuf Zai, Saleem Ahmed, Dr Ansar Rizvi, Dr Zaheer Khan, Prof Kamil Hussain, Dr Zahida, Asadullah Qureshi and Adil Naseem. - APP
