HYDERABAD, Nov 16: Justice Syed Zawar Hussain Jafri of the Sindh High Court, Hyderabad circuit bench, has issued a show-cause notice to the SHO of cantonment police station for not appearing in the court in a criminal revision application.

Zahid Hussain had filed an application under section 22-A of Cr.PC, seeking registration of FIR against SI Zulfikar Arain and SI Ghulam Nabi and police constables Rasheed Mallah and Mithal.

Ayaz Tunio advocate represented the applicant and prayed the court to direct the SHO cantonment police to lodge the FIR against policemen. The applicant said on May 12 this year he had moved an application in the court of Second Additional District and Sessions Judge against illegal confinement of his brother, Maqbool Hussain by police officials of the Baldia police station but it was dismissed.

He said Mabqool Hussain was released after the complainant of the case did not identify him during identification parade lodged with the Hatri police. The applicant's counsel said he had repeatedly approached police for registration of FIR against SIs and police constables but in vain.

PROBE: The in-charge additional registrar of the Sindh High Court, Hyderabad circuit bench, Mr Ghulam Mustafa Channa, has submitted his report to the court in respect of demolition of houses near the Mehran Oils Mills.

He stated that the mill had encroached upon land belonging to highway authorities. He said the area encroached upon by people did not belong to the mill because it was owned by highway and railway departments.

A division bench of the court asked counsel of all parties to verify the report and they were free to file their objections, if any. The matter is now fixed for Dec 22. Mr Channa was appointed on Dec 8 to see whether encroachment was removed.
