KASUR: Man shot dead on resistance

KASUR, Dec 15: Three robbers shot dead a man on offering resistance and took away his motorcycle at Majhiwala, Phoolnagar on Wednesday. Reports said Mohammad Iqbal was going to Phoolnagar by his bike (LZ-6407). Near Majhiwala, three bandits intercepted him and shot him dead on resistance.

ZC SESSION: The Punjab government must take special measures for distribution of appointments letters among the teachers selected on merit in order to save the educational year of the students across the district.

These views were expressed by a majority of district council members in its meeting held here on Wednesday with acting convener Mohammad Amin in the chair. District Nazim Rana Imtiaz Ahmad Khan, the district police officer and a large number of members attended the meeting.

The district Nazim assured the session that the distribution process of appointment letters among teachers would be started within a week. He said the district government had recruited 2,000 teachers during the last three years.

Members Haji Javed Akhtar, Sajida Hayat and others pointed out that a Urea Fertilizer bag was being sold in the market at Rs520 instead of Rs470. Regarding law and order, DPO Khadim Hussain Bhatti said solid steps were being taken to improve the law and order situation in the district. He said the provincial government had initially provided Rs1.2 million for meeting the expenditure of investigation.
