PESHAWAR, Dec 14: A Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal MNA, Maulana Abdul Akbar Chitrali, has asked the federal government to provide wheat to people of Chitral.

Speaking at a press conference here on Monday, he said that the federal government should provide at least 15,000 tons of wheat free of cost to meet the requirement in the district.

Maulana Chitrali recalled that the NWFP Chief Minister, Akram Khan Durrani, had announced a Rs225 million package for the rain-affected people of the district to help them overcome financial hardships caused by rain and flood a few months ago. He said that the government had deducted Rs5 million out of district Chitral's share in the Zakat fund and transferred it to other districts.
