FAISALABAD: Two 'outlaws' killed, cop injured in encounter

By Our Staff Correspondent

FAISALABAD, Dec 14: Two alleged outlaws were killed while a constable sustained multiple wounds in an encounter near Baqir Pull, about 45 kilometres from here, on Tuesday.

A team of Satiana police station signalled four horse-riders near Arkana police post but they took to their heels. The police party started chasing them and intercepted them near Baqir Pull.

Fearing their arrest, they opened fire on the police team, which was retaliated, and the crossfire continued for about two hours. Two outlaws were killed in the encounter, while a police constable sustained injuries. The other two outlaws fled from the scene.

The dead men were identified as Iqbal alias Bali, of Chak 580 GB and Rehman Vaseer alias Rehmo, a resident of Chak 581 GB. Injured constable Hamaish Allah Yar was immediately shifted to the THQ Hospital from where he was referred to Allied Hospital where his condition was stated to be out of danger.

Police claimed that the dead were wanted in a number of cases of dacoities and highway robberies.
