ISLAMABAD, Dec 13: The Alliance for the Restoration of Democracy (ARD) has submitted an adjournment motion to the National Assembly Secretariat seeking a debate on the recent Quetta bomb blast in which 10 persons were killed and 30 injured.

ARD parliamentary secretary Izhar Amrohvi told Dawn that the motion had been submitted under Rule 92 of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the National Assembly 1992 and it had been signed by 10 members of the People's Party Parliamentarians (PPP) and the Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N).

The motion states: "It has been reported all over the world on print and electronic media that a bomb planted by some terrorists exploded near a military truck in Quetta on December 10 killing 10 people and injuring 30 others.

This is not the first time that such incident happened which shows lack of security and ill-administration of the government." It says, "The matter has created harassment in the general public and it should be discussed on the floor of the house after adjourning the normal proceedings."

The motion has been signed by Raja Pervez Ashraf, Ghulam Murtaza Satti, Chaudhry Aitzaz Ahsan, Naheed Khan, Chaudhry Qamar Zaman Kaira, Fozia Wahab, Chaudhry Manzoor Ahmed and Syed Naveed Qamar of the PPP and Tehmina Daultana and Khwaja Saad Rafiq of the PML-N.

Mr Amrohvi said the purpose of submitting the motion was to discuss the law and order situation in the country and to expose the government failure in providing protection to the property and life of the citizens.
