KaraFilm Festival awards announced

KARACHI, Dec 13: An award distribution ceremony and entertainment programme featuring pop outfit Aaroh, Hadiqa Kiyani and Atif Aslam of Jal on Sunday marked the finale of the KaraFilm Festival.

Awards were given to winning films in different categories. Life-time achievement awards were also presented to Mehdi Hassan and Kamal Ahmed Rizvi for their invaluable contribution to showbiz.

The films which received the awards are: Zelary (Czech film) for best musical score; The Terminal (US film) for best editing; Girl With A Pearl Earring (UK) for best screenplay (Adapted); Goodbye, Lenin! (German film) for best screenplay (Original); Girl With A Pearl Earring for best cinematography; Raghu Romeo (India) for best director; Goodbye, Lenin! for best supporting male actor; Raghu Romeo for best supporting female actor; Raghu Romeo for best male actor in a leading role; Girl With A Pearl Earring for best female actor in a leading role; Girl With A Pearl Earring for best feature; Disbelief for best documentary; Final Solution for special recognition in documentaries; The Tree Officer for best animated short film; Original Bob (Scottish film) for best live action short film; Lust for Best Emerging Hum Filmmaker Award (national); Samovar for Best Emerging Hum Filmmaker Award (international); Om Puri and Rakhshan Bani-Etemad for KaraFilm Society Special Appreciation Award.
