FAISALABAD, Dec 13: Deputy Inspector General Chaudhry Sajjad Ahmed has expressed concern and dismay over delay by Toba Tek Singh, Jhang and Faisalabad police in arresting proclaimed offenders and court absconders.
The DIG issued an SOS to all the three district police chiefs asking them to launch a vigorous campaign in this regard so that they could be presented in courts. Mr Ahmed said no extraordinary efforts were made in the past by the district police for the arrest of POs which resulted in upward movement of crime graph. He issued instructions to all the three DPOs for supervizing the drive against outlaws.
A police source said that at present over 5,000 POs were wanted in various cases of murder, attempt murder and robbery. The source said after instructions from the DIG, the ASPs and the SHOs had been given the task to arrest a maximum number of proclaimed offenders in their respective areas otherwise they would have to face disciplinary action.
TWO KILLED: Two people, including a taxi driver, were killed in a car-truck collision on Chak Jhumra Road on Sunday night. Reports said the car was hit by a truck as a result driver Nasir and passenger Rafique sustained serious injuries. They were shifted to the Allied Hospital where doctors pronounced them dead.
