LAHORE, Dec 13: The Punjab government on Monday replaced Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (Tevta) chairman Yousaf Kamal and posted Khalid Mahmood as its chairman for five years.

Mr Mahmood, an income tax group officer, was sent to the federal government from Pakistan Administrative Staff College as an OSD recently. Mr Mahmood, father-in-law of chief minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi's son, had recently got his services transferred to the Punjab government. It is also learnt that Mr Mahmood was due to retire in next few months.

Meanwhile, the government posted Mr Kamal as member of the Punjab Public Service Commission. The Tevta senior officials say that Mr Kamal had ensured 105 per cent to 200 per cent enrolment increase in technical and vocational education institutions in the province. He was also working on to modernize the existing technical and vocational education curricula in collaboration with the industry, they added.
