KARACHI, Dec 13: Sindh Education and Literacy Minister Dr Hamida Khuhro has given the target to the Executive District Officers (Education) to ensure five per cent increase in enrolment of children during the next three months.

An announcement to this effect was made in an official statement here on Monday. In a letter to the education secretary, the minister pointed out that the dropout rate of children from schools was rapidly increasing which was a cause of concern for her.

Dr Hamida Khuhro also pointed out that a big number of schools were either closed or not functioning. She directed that all the EDOs should be given assignment to undertake all out efforts to enhance children enrolment through concerted efforts with the help of the staff as well as civil society.

The minister also issued instructions to engage all supervising staff and field officers in this regard and monitor the situation closely to achieve the target in time. She further directed that the progress report should be obtained from the EDOs on monthly basis. -APP
