KOHAT, Dec 11: Governor Syed Iftikhar Hussain Shah has stressed the need for useful and capable human resource and called upon higher educational institutions to improve this aspect because without it no country
, having even rich minerals and natural, can prosper.
He said the country was in dire need of human resource in every field right from science faculties to the lower level of entrepreneurs so that the country's products could attract international buyers.
The governor announced a grant of Rs1 million for the Kohat University of Science and Technology during his address as chief guest on the occasion of the ground-breaking ceremony of a boys hostel on Saturday.
He asked the vice chancellor to submit the feasibility of a medical college in Kohat so that work on it could be started next year.
A memorandum of understanding was also signed between the university and Smeda.
Speaking on the occasion, the provincial chief of the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (Smeda), Mr Tariq, highlighted the achievements of his department.
Zulfiqar Hussain Gilani, director of the Centre for Higher Education Transformation, said there were many problems faced by universities in producing the needed human resource because of many factors.
University Vice-chancellor Dr Zabita Khan Shinwari also spoke on the occasion.
