SHIKARPUR: JI condemns judges' kidnapping

Dawn Report

SHIKARPUR, Dec 11: Leaders and workers of the Jamaat-i-Islami staged a demonstration at the Lakhi gate clock tower chowk on Saturday evening in protest against the kidnapping of two judges and nine others in Shikarpur district.

Speaking on the occasion, MNA Maulana Asadullah Bhutto, MPA Hamidullah Khan, Jamaat's Sindh Amir Mumtaz Ali Memon, MNA Mohammad Hussain Mehnati and MPA Nasrullah Shahji condemned the kidnappings and expressed their sympathies with the families of victims.

They accused the Sindh government of creating a law and order problem in Shikarpur district.

JI leaders said Sindh was in the grip of terrorists and criminals were ruling roads.

They advised the federal and provincial home ministers to resign from their offices because they had failed to ensure peace and tranquillity in the country, particularly in Sindh.

They demanded that Sindh chief minister should set up his camp at Shikarpur for monitoring police action till the recovery of judges and other persons.

SUKKUR: Lawyers boycotted court proceedings and took out a protest procession here on Saturday against non-recovery of two judges.

The procession started from the district and sessions court and after passing through main thoroughfares of the city reached at the press club, where the lawyers staged a sit-in for one hour.

Speaking the occasion, lawyers Qurban Malano, Maqbool Awan Malik Abdul Fatah and others regretted that Sindh, especially Shikarpur, was in the grip of lawlessness.

They warned that they would observe a token hunger strike outside the Sukkur Press Club and boycott court proceedings for two hours if the government did not recover the judges within 24 hours.

LARKANA: Members of the Sindh High Court Bar Association and the District Bar Association, Larkana, on Saturday boycotted court proceedings to protest against the kidnapping of two judges.

They also staged a sit-in in the sessions court premises and observed a token hunger strike.

Talking to journalists, Abdul Razzak Soomro, Safdar Bhutto, Ayaz Soomro, Inayat Morio and other lawyers said the incident had exposed hollow claims of the Sindh government regarding the law and order situation.
