PESHAWAR Dec 11: The Peshawar police have sought arrest of a person from Lahore police, who is charged in forgery case, officials told Dawn here on Saturday.

The Peshawar police had sent a letter to Lahore Capital City Police on Friday, requesting them to arrest Azeem Haider, son of Faheem Haider, a resident of Defence Housing Society, who had been charged of issuing a post-dated check to Murtaz Malik, which bounced thrice, these officials said.

Murtaza Malik of Hayatabad township, lodged an FIR with the East-Cantt police stating that Azeem Haider had obtained a loan of Rs500,000 from him on June 20, 1998.

But when he wanted his money back, the accused started delaying tactics and finally issued him a post-dated cheque of the amount he borrowed from Mr Malik mentioning the date of Jan 29, 2004.

Mr Malik said that he submitted the cheque thrice to his bank here, but every time it bounced. An investigation official in East-Cantt police station said that the accused had been charged under section 512 of the PPC.

REPORTING CENTRE: Provincial Police Officer IGP Riffat Pasha on Saturday inaugurated the newly established model reporting centre at police station Kabal in Swat district, said an official statement issued here.

DIG Malakand Atta Ullah Wazir, SSP Swat Syed Akhtar Ali Shah and other high ranking police officers were also present on the occasion.

The IGP said that the basic idea behind the establishment of model reporting centre was to provide police-friendly and fear- free atmosphere to the complainants for registering their cases.
