HYDERABAD, Dec 10: Leaders of different parties and social workers have held the government responsible for what they called the loot and plunder of Sindh's resources and stressed the need for unity among all political parties, social welfare organizations and trade unions to regain control of Sindh's resources.

They were speaking at a seminar organized by the Sindh National Party at the press club here on Thursday evening. The topic of the seminar was "who is responsible for the rampant unemployment and loot and plunder of resources of Sindh".

The chairman of the SNP, Mr Ameer Bux Bhambhro, said that before the creation of Pakistan, Sindhis were salves of a foreign nation but after Pakistan they had become slaves of slaves.

Criticizing the leaders of Sindh, he said that resources of Sindh had been looted in the name of Pakistan and Islam. He said Sindhis wanted to save Pakistan but warned that if the plunder of Sindh's water and resources was not stopped, the country could not remain intact.

He said that the Muttahida Qaumi Movement's demand for 50 per cent quota in employment only in Sindh was a conspiracy against ethnic harmony. He said that MQM chief Altaf Hussain had always paid only lip service to the cause of Sindh.

Young writer Jami Chandio said Sindh with regards to natural and economic resources was richer than many countries in the world. He said because these resources were not in the control of Sindhis, the people of the province were living in abject poverty.

He urged the people of Sindh to unite on one platform to get back the control of their resources. Awami Tehrik leader Dr Nazir Shaikh said Pakistan for which Sindhis had strived has disintegrated was no more that.

He said if Sindhis were to unite on one platform, they could get back everything usurped by others. PML (N) leader Afzal Gujjar said Sindhis had been deprived of employment and natural resources because dictators and undemocratic forces had usurped power.

SNF leader Ayub Shar said Sindh was paying Rs350 billion per annum to the federation but it received only Rs45 billion in return. JSQM activist Qamar Bhatti, journalist Iqbal Mallah and Hyderabad district council member Rana Mehmood Ali also spoke on the occasion and called for the restoration of Sindhis' right over resources of Sindh to end poverty in the province.

APPEAL: Relatives of Nisar Mallah have appealed to authorities to order the arrest of in-charge of the Kotri Site police post, Bakhshal Khokhar, ASI Mazhar Pitafi and others for their alleged involvement in the murder of Nisar Mallah.

Speaking at a news conference at the press club here on Friday, the brother of Nazeer Ahmed and uncle Sahib Dino said it had been proved beyond any doubt in the report of the medical board that Nisar Mallah had died due to torture and he was not electrocuted.

They said after Nisar's killing, the Site police had claimed that Mallah had committed suicide by touching high tension wire. They said the RMO taluka hospital Kotri had also stated in the report that Nisar Mallah had died due to electric shock.

They said the Sindh government had appointed DPO Hyderabad, Mr A.D. Khwaja, to reinvestigate the case. They said the body of the deceased was exhumed by a medical board in presence of a civil judge and judicial magistrate, Kotri.

They said the board re-conducted post-mortem and had given a clear report that the first post-mortem was never conducted and the deceased had received multiple fractures in his head.

Under the circumstances, they demanded that an FIR should be registered against police officers and the RMO and they should be arrested for the murder of Nisar Mallah. They also distributed copies of two post-mortem reports. The report of the medical board confirmed their allegations.
