LAHORE, Dec 9: A superb century by Arslan Mir enabled Lahore Blues dominate the first day of Quaid-i-Azam Trophy against Quetta by collecting 296 for four wickets in first innings at Qadhafi Stadium on Thursday.
Arslan scored 203-ball 137, cracking 24 boundaries and one towering six as Lahore Blues recovered from a shaky start to finish the day at satisfactory position. Arslan with Rashid Riaz (84, 14 fours, 139 balls) yielded 128 runs in third wicket stand, when opener Kashif Siddique, the centurion of the last match against Hyderabad, got out for a duck and Umar Javed removed for 21, making the total 52-2.
But Arslan and Rashid steadied the innings. Rashid's departure brought skipper Shahnawaz Malik (33 batting, four fours). Both Arslan and Shahnawaz added 113 runs in the fourth wicket. Arslan was eventually caught by Shoaib Khan off medium-pacer Khalil Ahmed.
