KHAIRPUR: 15 held over land dispute

KHAIRPUR, Dec 9: Fifteen people were arrested by police in connection with a land dispute on Wednesday. Shar and Samoo groups clashed in Noor Mohammad Samoo village in the Thari Mirwah police area. The cause of the clash was said to be a dispute over land.

Those arrested from the two sides include Manzoor Ali, Zahoor Ahmed, Wajid Ali, Aslam, Mushtaq Ali, Ashiq Ali and Ashfaq Ali. In another incident, a woman, Bakhan, wife of Ghulam Abbas, was injured by six people in Kot Bungalow village.

A case was lodged at the Kot Diji police station by injured woman against Ghulam Sarwar Baladi, Imdad, Bagan, Mithal, Ghulam Jafar and one unknown person. She said the accused attacked her because of a dispute over land.

PROTEST: Growers of the Sada Wah took out a procession against officials of the irrigation department in Thari Mirwah town on Thursday. They alleged that officials were not supplying water to them hence they were unable to cultivate wheat crop.
