SHIKARPUR, Dec 9: Lawyers of the district took out a procession here on Thursday against the failure of police to recover two additional session judges and nine other people.
Awami Tehrik chief Rasool Bux Palijo and the president the District Bar Association, Mazhar Ali Siddiqui, led them. They marched from the District Bar Association office and reached the press club. They also staged a demonstration at the Lakhi Gate tower chowk here. Speaking on the occasion, Rasool Bux Palijo, Mazhar Ali Siddiqui, Akbar Jatoi, Qadir Abro, Naseer Lodhi and Barkat Bhutto accused the district police of creating law and order in Shikarpur.
They said the Sindh government had totally failed to provide protection of life, honour and property to people. They said elected representatives who had domination over people were involved in encouraging outlaws and providing shelters to them.
The lawyers gave an ultimatum of 24 hours for the release of judges and other kidnapped victims, otherwise, they would adapt the second line of action. The lawyers continued the boycott of court.
NAWABSHAH: Three judges of the Sindh High Court paid a visit to the house of Farooq Channa, the kidnapped additional sessions judge of Shikarpur, and met his family members on Wednesday. Justice Zia Parvaiz, Justice Zawar Hussain Jafri and Justice Azizullah A. Memon meet brothers of Farooq Channa at their house in the Manuabad area.
Talking to newsmen, they said the government was making all possible efforts for safe recovery of the judges. They said army helicopters might be used in operation against bandits, if ground forces failed to recover the judges.
BADIN: Lawyers from different parts of the district took out a procession here on Thursday in protest against the kidnapping of two judges in Shikarpur. They arrived from Tando Bago, Matli, Shaheed Fazil Raho and Talhar towns.
The president of the District Bar Association, Dildar Ali, led the protest. They marched from the DBA office to the district Nazim secretariat. Speaking on the occasion, Masood Junejo, Dildar Ali, Qayoom Channo, Ishaque Khoso and Chetan Parkash expressed their concern over the failure of police to recover the judges.
They said it was the government's responsibility to provide protection to citizen under the Constitution but it had failed to perform its duty. Meanwhile, the district council at its meeting on Thursday condemned the kidnapping of two judges and unanimously passed a resolution, demanding their safe recovery.
WARRANT: Revenue authorities have issued warrants of arrest against 1,000 farmers including woman under section 82(1) of the Land Revenue Act 1967 for recovery of Taccavi loans. Farmers condemned the attitude of revenue Mukhtiarkar, Matli taluka, and said they were being harassed through warrants of arrest.
