PESHAWAR: 12 officials held for corruption

PESHAWAR, Dec 9: The National Accountability Bureau here on Thursday arrested 12 officials of various departments on charges of embezzlement and corrupt practices, said a press release.

NAB authorities said that major scam of withdrawal of pension involving embezzlement of more than Rs14 million had been unearthed. The statement said that a gang of officials of the education department, Accountant General office, Treasury office, State Bank and private beneficiaries was involved in the scam.

These officials fraudulently drew government funds in the guise of fake pensioners and the accused managed withdrawal of commutation/pension under fake names.

The arrested officials are Niamatullah Khan, accounts officer, DCO office, Lakki Marwat, Sabz Ali Shah, sub accountant, district account office, Charsadda, Abbas Khan, assistant account officer, treasury Peshawar, Malak Banaras Khan, assistant account officer, AG office, Peshawar, Abdul Waheed, assistant supervisor AG Office, Peshawar, Fazal Illahi, AG office Peshawar, Farman Shah, senior auditor AG office, Peshawar, Iqbal Hussain, senior auditor AG office, Peshawar, Mushtaq Khan, junior clerk education department, Peshawar, Moazam Khan, PTC education department, Peshawar, Bahadur Khan, PTC education department, Peshawar and Suleman Rauf, junior clerk, education department Peshawar.
