KARACHI, Dec 9: A senior official of the public works department was shot dead by unknown persons in Liaquatabad on Thursday morning.
PWD Executive Engineer Ejaz Hussain, 40, was passing through Gujjar Nullah Road in his official Hi-roof (GP-5299) when two suspects on a motorcycle intercepted the vehicle near a service station, located close to the Super Market police station, and shot him dead. The driver, Mohammad Nadeem, and the victim's niece who was also sitting in the vehicle, remained unhurt.
The victim was rushed to nearby private hospital, located in Rizvia Society, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. Later, the body was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for post-mortem examination.
Hospital sources said that the victim had suffered two bullet wounds in the head. Super Market police said that the victim belonged to Bohra community. Sources close to the family told Dawn that the deceased was scheduled to leave for Haj in the coming week.
