NEW DELHI, Dec 8: New Delhi will prefer results rather than create euphoria or despair with Pakistan, says Indian Foreign Minister Kunwar Natwar Singh.
"With Pakistan, we have put behind us a reactive policy, which frequently oscillated between euphoria and despair," Mr Singh told Indian parliament in a foreign policy statement on Wednesday.
"We are engaged in a sustained and comprehensive dialogue process." Mr Singh said India would not be "deflected by transient developments and often contradictory pronouncements" from Pakistan.
"Our confidence in taking this process forward is reflected in the number of wide-ranging confidence building measures that we have put on the table, including several on a unilateral basis," Mr Singh said. He reminded that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had "clearly enunciated the parameters" within which India sought peace with Pakistan.
