HARIPUR, Dec 7: A man and a seven-year-old boy died in two different incidents in the district on Monday evening. Family sources told police that the boy, Junaid Hussain, was killed when he fell from the roof of his house into a tub filled with hot water. He was on the roof flying kite.

They said the boy died instantaneously. About the second incident, one Fiaz Ahmad told the Khalabat Township police that his brother Noor Mohammad, 21, was hunting rabbits in the jungle near village Kund Kaloo Khan when his dogs attacked him.

The hunter, according to his brother, was seriously injured when his shotgun went off accidentally while he was trying to save himself from the dogs. He died on the way to hospital.

FIVE LOOTED: Five persons were waylaid by armed robbers and deprived of cash and valuables worth thousands of rupees in Kot Najibullah area on Monday.

According to one Shoaib, son of Mohammad Ilyas, of Todoo village, he was on way to his home with his three friends when they were intercepted by three armed robbers, who snatched Rs20,000 from him and Rs1,350 from his Friend Mohammad Rafiq and Rs1,300 from Shakoor and escaped.

He said the gang also deprived two motorcyclists, Arshad and Qaisar Iqbal, of Rs2,300, a cell phone and a wristwatch. Meanwhile, a the district chapter of the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal, in a meeting presided over by its vice-president Syed Mehmood Shah, on Tuesday took exception to increasing incidents of crime in the area and expressed dissatisfaction over the performance of police.

The participants of the meeting accused the Haripur district police officer of violating the provincial government's policies. They said faulty security system was responsible for a record number of robberies, burglaries and other crimes in the area. They said the MMA would protest if the police did not improve their performance.
