PESHAWAR: Assault case accused sent to lock-up

By Bureau Report

PESHAWAR, Dec 6: A local court on Monday sent three persons, including two police constables, to judicial lock-up for their involvement in a case of a sexual assault on a boy. None of the accused has so far confessed the crime.

The accused, constables Amanullah and Ghulam Raheem, and watchman Muhammad Arif, were produced before the court of judicial magistrate Shaukat Ahmad after completion of their police custody.

They were arrested on Friday after the victim visited the Hasthnagri police station and accused them of molesting him. The boy, about 14 years old, is said to be a scavenger from Swat district. He said that he had been pushed into a dark alley by the policemen after being awakened by the night watchman.

He said he was sleeping on a footpath. He alleged that one of the three, whom he identified as Amanullah, had assaulted him. He said that he had been advised by a passer by to lodge a complaint at the police station.

The accused insist that they had done nothing wrong and that the boy was telling lies. Amanullah claimed that the boy was an addict and he had stopped him from inhaling commercial glue and beat him up to admonish him.
