PESHAWAR, Dec 6: The anti-kidnapping force of police have arrested 20 kidnappers and recovered seven persons from their captivity during one month, an official statement issued here on Monday said.

A high-level meeting chaired by NWFP Governor Syed Iftikhar Hussain Shah reviewed the performance and achievements of the anti-kidnapping force at the Governor House on Monday. The meeting discussed measures taken since the establishment of the force in early November and other implementation processes to curb kidnappers and their activities.

The meeting was told that over a period of one month, 20 kidnappers had been arrested and seven kidnapped persons and 11 stolen vehicles recovered. A lashkar (volunteer force) of Zakhakhel and Shalobar Qambarkhel tribes was also raised against notorious kidnappers, with two of them arrested so far. The meeting noted with satisfaction the short-term performance of the force.
