GUJAR KHAN, Dec 5: Police are lenient in ensuring security around vans bringing prisoners from Adiala Jail to Gujar Khan for trial. It has been observed that relatives of the prisoners flock to the prison vans parked inside the police stations or civil courts. Similarly, anyone can pass on items to the prisoners due to lack of security measures.

Most of the prisoners brought to the courts are involved in heinous crimes including murders, kidnappings and robberies.

It is pertinent to mention that a number of prisoner escape incidents have occurred and in some cases the police failed to arrested the culprits.
