TOBA TEK SINGH: Running finance to sugar mills ordered

By Our Correspondent

TOBA TEK SINGH, Dec 4: The National Accountability Bureau has directed the Allied and Habib banks of Gojra to release the running finance to Chaudhry Sugar Mills (owned by Mian Nawaz Sharif family) with immediate effect.

A source told Dawn here on Saturday that the mills had started functioning a month ago but the banks did not release the advances to the mills due to the direction of the NAB.

He said now both the banks had released Rs50 million running finance to the mills for which the signatures from Hamza Shahbaz had already been taken on behalf of the mills management.

SUPPORT: The District Nazim group has announced that it will support Mujahid Hussain Saqlain, the candidate for Naib Nazim slot of Union Council No 54 (Toba city).

The seat was vacated on account of resignation from his office by Naib Nazim Chaudhry Zubair Sharif. He has now joined a private bank. The byelection on the vacant seat is being held on Dec 15.

Meanwhile, the opponents of District Nazim Chaudhry Muhammad Ashfaq have yet not decided to whom they would support among the remaining three candidates. MNA Chaudhry Amjad Ali Warraich, former MNA Chaudhry Abdul Sattar, PPP city president Zulfiqar Ali, PML-N leader Rana Muhammad Anwar advocate and former PPP CEC member Ghiasuddin Janbaz are among the opponents.
