MULTAN, Dec 3: Lohari Gate police arrested three inspectors of the customs intelligence on Friday after institution of a case against them for misappropriating about two maunds of confiscated hashish.

It is reported that the customs intelligence had recovered 1,990 kilograms (50 maunds) of hashish from Dera Ghazi Khan in February last year. Israr Khan Tanoli of Abbottabad was transporting the consignment to the Punjab in a truck painted in military colour while he himself was reportedly wearing a military uniform.

During a recent stocktaking drive, it dawned upon the authorities that two maunds of hashish was missing from the consignment. Superintendent Shahid Azam reported the matter to police which arrested inspectors Amjad Parvez, Akmal Shahbaz and Muhammad Dilshad. When contacted, duty officer at the police station said they would apply for physical remand of the accused on Saturday.

MEDICAL EXAMINATION: The local district and session judge ordered on Friday medical examination of a boy after his disclosure that he had been sodomized by a constable in Jalalpur Pirwala Saddar police station.

The judge passed the orders while disposing off a habeas corpus petition filed by one Mulazim Husain. The petitioner had submitted that his relatives Javed, Afzal and Qasim had been in the custody of Jalalpur Pirwala Saddar police since Nov 21 without being named in any case.

The court deputed a bailiff who raided the police station and reported that the detainees were there but the police had registered a case against them on Thursday. However, young Qasim alleged before the court that Constable Altaf had sodomized him.
