Golden chance for Pakistan to lift trophy

By Our Sports Correspondent

LAHORE, Nov 2: Former Olympians and coaches of Pakistan team, Khawaja Zakauddin and Khawaja Junaid have said it was a 'golden' chance for Pakistan to win the Dec 4-12 Champions Trophy in Lahore.

Talking to Dawn Zakauddin stated "Holland is the only main rival and Pakistan are capable of beating the other teams ". "The home conditions will favour out team as they have to meet a new-look Germany in the opener and a win in that match will raise the morale of the team," Zakauddin remarked. But he added two key forwards Muddassar Ali Khan and Shabbir had to display their best as a lot depended on them. "Both have fine skills of dribbling and they have major roles in guiding the team to play aggressively," he said.

He said that Pakistan had great advantage of having penalty-corner specialist Sohail Abbas. "I expect two goals from Sohail in every match and two or three from the forwards and if it this happens Pakistan can win the title," Zakauddin said.

Junaid said that there was only one-goal difference among top teams and Pakistan could eliminate it with the advantage of home conditions. He said that Pakistan appear strong on paper as it had experienced players while the others had introduced a good number of youngsters. He claimed that the game would get a new life in the country if Pakistan triumphed.
