HYDERABAD: Harassment of NGO officials condemned

HYDERABAD, Dec 1: Activists of the Sindhi Adabi Sangat held a demonstration outside the press club here to protest against regional programme manager of the National Rural Support Programme , Rasool Bux Soomro, for allegedly harassing women officers of the NGO.

The Sangat officials, Taj Joyo, Anwar Sagar Kandhro and Rehana Channar, Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz leader Abdul Wahid Areesar, and other writers demanded removal of Soomro and an inquiry against him for sexual harassment and victimization of women officers of the NRSP.

They warned that if Soomro was not removed, no unit of the NRSP would be allowed to work in the province. Two women officers of the NRSP have recently resigned in protest against the alleged sexual harassment by Soomro while many others had earlier resigned.

CONFERENCE: The Sindhi Hindu Sudhar Tanzim at a meeting held here on Wednesday decided to hold a district conference of the organization and "Jashan-i-Miran Bai" in Tando Allahyar on Jan 29.

The meeting condemned the kidnapping of Satish Kumar, Pawan Kumar and Ajeet in Shikarpur who were on their way to the Shankar Parti temple for worship. It demanded that the government should adopt measures to protect life, property and honour of minorities. Hameeromal presided over the meeting.

MQM: Muttahida Qaumi Movement zonal in charge Siraj Rajput here on Wednesday inaugurated roads constructed in Sagar Colony, Al-Fazal town, and Phulelli with funds of MNA Shamim Akhtar.
