QUETTA, Nov 30: Law-enforcement agencies conducted raids at various places on Tuesday in search of companions of a Chechen suspect who was arrested on Monday for hurling a hand-grenade and attempting to rob a money-changer.
However, raids in the Satellite Town and some other areas of the city did not result in any new arrest. "We are after them and soon they would be arrested," a senior police officer said, adding that the detained suspect who has identified himself as Abdul Ghafar, was being interrogated.
During interrogation, the Chechan national told the investigators that he had arrived in Quetta only two days ago from Wana on the orders of Chechen leader Saifuddin. He said that as ordered by the Chechen leader he had met some people in Quetta and joined them in the attempt to rob the money changer.
He also said that his three accomplices who had escaped after the botched robbery bid were also foreigners. One of them was from Turkmenistan and the other two were Afghans.
