LAHORE, Nov 28: New Zealand hockey team vice-captain Darren Smith injured his middle right hand finger during a practice session on Sunday.

He received six stitches and the doctors advised him four days rest which means he will miss back-to-back warm-up matches against Pakistan and Germany, ahead of Dec 4-12 Champions Trophy.

The Kiwis are to play Pakistan in the first match on Monday and the second against Germany on Tuesday. The New Zealand team skipper Simon Towns, who did come with his team when last week, is due to arrive on Monday.

The German team is also reaching on Monday. Pakistan and New Zealand were to play the warm-up match on Tuesday but it has been rescheduled for Monday.
