KARACHI: Anti-polio drive begins tomorrow


KARACHI, Nov 28: The city government has completed all arrangements for anti-polio campaign starting from Nov 30 which would be monitored by DCO Fazlur Rehman.

The arrangements were reviewed at a meeting chaired by Nazim Naimatullah Khan at his office on Saturday.

Among others, the meeting was attended by the WHO representative, DO health and senior officials of towns and health department. It was decided that UC nazims and town health officers would ensure the participation and assistance of their councillors as well in the drive.

Naimatullah Khan exhorted all the departments concerned to strengthen their liaison and ensure that desired targets were attained and every child was benefited through the campaign which would continue till Dec 2.

Meanwhile, the three-day drive will be inaugurated by the chief minister's adviser on health at a dispensary in Sultanabad, Keamari from Monday. The adviser urged general public to participate in the campaign in large numbers by bringing their children to the nearest health centres for administering the polio drops to children below five years of age to get rid of the dangerous disease.

To make the campaign a success, he said that every person would have to play a pivotal role. He said that the country was a few steps away from eradication of polio disease. -APP
