HYDERABAD, Nov 28: Some parts of the city remained without gas after a fire broke out in a pipeline in the Jani Shah area on Saturday night. The Sui Southern Gas Company authorities faced difficulty in detecting the line which caught fire.
It was for that reason that fire fighters from Market, Faqir-Jo-Pir and Latifabad areas took three hours to put out the fire. It was a plastic pipe which was passing over a choked drain. The cause of the fire could not be ascertained.
The SSGC authorities closed the gas supply in the area to avoid any further loss. The power supply of the area was also suspended due to which the entire area was plunged into dark.
The people took to the streets and burnt tyres on roads. An official of the SSGC, Aftab Memon, said the gas supply was restored at around 5am on Sunday. He said no loss of life or injury was reported.
He said it was eight inch diameter pipeline which had caught fire. He said the pipeline was linked with the main line, therefore, the pressure of the gas took some time to reduce even after suspension of the supply.
BAIL: The Sindh High Court, Hyderabad circuit bench, granted interim pre-arrest bail to three murder accused in a sum of Rs100,000 each on Friday and directed them to join the investigation.
