MIANWALI, Nov 27: A joint meeting of the MMA and the ARD held on Friday evening here at the District Press Club and attended by the politicians from different parties vowed to hold a public meeting on Sunday (today) in front of General Bus Stand.

PML-N former MNA Inamullah Khan Niazi said uniform was not an issue for the ARD. They (political parties) wanted to remove Gen Pervez Musharraf who was a threat to the real democracy, he added.

He criticized the general for eliminating the religion column from passport.

Lashing out at the district government, he claimed that it had appointed corrupt people and heroin smugglers to the Zakat committees who embezzled funds.

District MMA president Ali Haider Nur said Sunday's pubic meetings which were being held simultaneously at Mianwali and Karachi were very important and urged the MMA and the ARD workers to make them a success.

MMA general secretary Dr Malik Muhammad Shakir, Jamaat-i-Islami amir Abdul Rehman Niazi, district PPPP president Malik Inayatullah Awan, Maulana Abdul Jalil and Aslam Khan Niazi of the JUP, and district Millat-i-Islami president Syed Wajahat Ali Zaidi also spoke on the occasion.

Aslam Khan warned the government that the MMA would launch an agitation if the government amended blasphemy laws.
