China keen for saline water project

KARACHI, Nov 27: China has shown interest in funding a joint research project with Pakistan regarding making saline water useful for cultivation. Cooperation in research will effectively benefit both countries.

This was stated by the Vice-Chancellor, University of Karachi, Prof Dr Pirzada Qasim Raza Siddiqui, during a visit of a Chinese scientists' delegation from the 'Chinese Academy of Sciences' to the Department of Botany, KU. The Chinese delegation comprised Prof Dr Qijun Ma, Ziumei Zhanmg and Dr Weiqiang Li. The visit by Chinese scientists is the second of its kind.

The delegation will finalize 16 scientific and technical protocols in order to enhance research activities between scientists of both countries.

Welcoming the visiting delegates, the VC appreciated their spirit for promoting developmental efforts in the field, which deserved the real attention of scientists.-APP
