Body to review NALC rules

GILGIT, Nov 27: The Northern Areas Legislative Council on Friday constituted a committee to study the Procedure and Conduct of Business Rules, 2004.

Deputy Speaker Syed Asad Zaidi of the Pakistan Muslim League will preside over the committee which comprises Hafiz Hafeezur Rehman of the PML (Nawaz), Advocate Fidaullah of the People's Party Parliamentarians and Wazir Walayat Ali of the PML.

NALC Speaker Haji Malik Miskeen asked the committee to complete its work as early as possible. Later, the session was adjourned sine die.

PARLIAMENTARY LEADER: The PML has elected former deputy chief executive Fida Mohammad Nashad its parliamentary leader in the NALC.

PML Additional Secretary Senator Nisar A. Memon said at a meeting of party workers at Chinar Bagh on Thursday that that the process of issuing party tickets to women and technocrats would start after the Legal Framework Order was amended in three weeks.

He said priority would be given to solving the problems of the people and provision of quality education in the area. He pledged to establish 100 literacy centres in the area.

He said every woman member of the council would be given Rs5 million for welfare projects.

He said the government had restarted the Khushal Pakistan Programme in the Northern Areas to bring prosperity to the region.
