SHEIKHUPURA: Robber killed in encounter

SHEIKHUPURA, Nov 27: An alleged robber was killed while a constable sustained serious injuries in an encounter on the Sharaqpur Road on Saturday evening.

Sheikhupura Saddar police said they received an information that four highwaymen had set up picket on the road and robbing passers-by. A police team rushed to the spot.

They said the bandits opened fire on the police team which was retaliated. A crossfire continued for around an hour which left one of the robbers dead, while the three others fled from the scene. Constable Aftab also suffered bullet injuries and admitted to hospital. Police could not identify the dead man.

ROBBED: A businessman was deprived of his car and valuables in broad daylight near Jhamke on the Lahore-Sargodha road on Saturday.

Cloth merchant Razzak was going to Sucha Sauda by his car (LOV-396). Five gunmen intercepted him and took away his car worth Rs600,000 and other valuables worth Rs200,000. Sadder police are investigating.
