3 foreign detainees presented to press

By Bureau Report

PESHAWAR, Nov 25: Security forces on Thursday presented before media the three foreign militants who were captured recently, including a 12-year-old Afghan Tajik.

They were identified as Hussain, who had told investigators that he was an Afghan Tajik; 26-year-old Abdul Qahar, an Uzbek militant who had been reportedly trained in Afghanistan and Tajikistan, and Khalid, 15, who was caught on Oct 1 when he was fleeing after a landmine explosion. The blast had left four children dead.

"From their appearance, they may look like unsuspecting children. They may look like children who can not even wipe their noses but they are the best people to be used for terrorist activities," Corps Commander, Peshawar, Lt-Gen Safdar Hussain, said at a news briefing later at the Garrison Officers Mess.

"If dogs could be used for tank busting during the Russian war, children could also be used for terrorist activities. Don't forget that these children had hurled grenades at the tribal peace committee and had wounded two of the members," he said in reply to a question.
