KARACHI, Nov 25: The first and second year examinations of degree classes (regular and private) candidates began at the University of Karachi on Thursday in a smooth and peaceful manner.
A varsity spokesman in a statement on Thursday pointed out that these exams were being conducted at 17 teaching departments, adding that their monitoring was conducted in a transparent manner.
Members of the vigilance committee consisting of college principals kept visiting the examination centres. On the vice-chancellor's directive, a shuttle service also kept plying for the convenience of the candidates.
The spokesman pointed out that some 5,300 candidates were expected in the first year and some 8,600 in the second year exams. As many as 16,000 private candidates were also appearing in these exams. In all, 50 examination centres had been set up for the purpose, it was pointed out.
POSTPONED: The second year Honours terminal examinations at the University of Karachi have been postponed owing to the commencement of degree class exams at the campus. This was announced by the Dean Faculty of Arts, Prof Dr Mohammed Shamsuddin, on Thursday. - APP
