ISLAMABAD, Nov 24: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Sheikh Rashid Ahmed said on Wednesday that the National Security Council's (NSC) meeting would be held on Thursday
and would not be postponed as demanded by the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal.
Talking to private TV channels, the minister said: "Now, the meeting cannot be postponed and the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal(MMA) should discuss its reservations and doubts in the meeting.
"The institution of the NSC has been set up to sort out reservations and doubts", he added. Sheikh Rashid said that the government had showed maximum flexibility to create a cordial environment with the opposition.
He said: "It will be unfortunate if they do not attend the meeting which is totally based on national interests. However, the meeting will be held on time". Answering to a question, he said that the MMA had already been informed about the NSC meeting.
He said: "Maulana Fazlur Rahman and Akram Durrani are important people and members of the NSC. And the democratic way is that they come to the meeting to get their reservations and doubts removed. He also said that the NSC had been set up under an act of parliament. -APP
